Celebrating Nowruz

Today and yesterday, pupils gathered in the chapel to celebrate Nowruz, the festival that marks the start of the Persian New Year. Taha M, Sahar E, Binay S and Kiyan G led the celebration and spoke confidently about the traditions of the Haft-Sin table and the meaning behind each of its symbols.

They also shared how Nowruz is observed in five different countries: Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, showing how the festival is celebrated in similar ways but with unique local customs. They also taught everyone how to greet one another by saying Nowruz Mubarak. Pupils and staff learned about traditions such as preparing special foods, visiting family and welcoming spring with a sense of renewal.

This offered a wonderful opportunity for the school community to appreciate the rich cultural heritage of Nowruz. It was a joyful way to welcome the new season together.
