  • Meet Raymond C
March 12, 2025

We are excited to begin our new Meet Our Pupils series, where we shine a light on the experiences and achievements of our wonderful students.

This week, we begin with Raymond C in Burton Bank House, who has taken on multiple leadership roles whilst at Mill Hill International.

We caught up with Raymond to hear about his time at Mill Hill International and his leadership responsibilities.

Tell us about yourself…

In terms of personality, I’m a pretty determined(or I would say stubborn) person. If there’s something I don’t understand, I won’t rest until I’ve figured it out. Even if it costs a lot of effort, I’m willing to put in the work to solve the problem and learn along the way.

Have you ever taken on a leadership role in school, and what did you learn from that experience?

I have taken multiple leadership roles in school at the same time, including the Prefect, Pupil Voice, Captain of Badminton Club, and a Math and Science Ambassador. In these positions, I enhanced my ability of organising events, teaching skills and public speaking skills.

Are you involved in any school clubs or societies? What do you enjoy most about them?

I am involved in the Philosophy, Badminton (which run by myself), STEM, and General Knowledge Clubs. I am also part of the Maths and Science Helper Programmes. What I enjoy most is the Badminton club, which I created because too many students wanted to play but the school didn’t have enough space. As a professional Badminton player, I decided to create the club to give students an opportunity to enjoy badminton and also to teach them new skills.

What is your favourite subject?

My favourite subject is Chemistry.

The process of learning chemistry is fascinating, as it builds step by step, with every topic linking to the next. Studying chemistry has greatly improved my logical thinking skills.

Who is someone you look up to, and what do you admire about them?

I really look up to a student named Jack Shao. He is an amazing individual who is dedicated to academics, Co-Curricular activities, and every other aspect of school life.

If you could give one piece of advice to younger pupils in school, what would it be?

Getting good grades is not the only purpose of life. You should also spend time socialising with friends and pursuing your passions. Be friendly to everyone, stay humble, and remain curious about new things.
