Learning Support
At Mill Hill International we firmly believe that a learning difficulty or disability should not be an obstacle to achieving success. Learning Support at MHI is dedicated to assisting pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities, including those with an Education and Health Care plan. Our goal is to provide personalised support to these pupils, ensuring they reach their potential.
At the start of the first term, pupils undergo baseline assessments. If there is any reason to suspect that a pupil has a potential underlying or undiagnosed learning difficulty, further assessments are conducted by the Learning Support Coordinator with parental consent. The Learning Support Coordinator would then make appropriate recommendations.
Also, with parental agreement, pupils with learning difficulties are included in the School's Learning Support Register. The Learning Support coordinator communicates specific individual needs to teachers and closely monitors the progress of these pupils throughout their time at MHI, maintaining regular contact with parents.
Support is tailored to each pupil's unique needs and may encompass individual and group sessions focusing on literacy, study skills, revision techniques, and organisational skills. Additional attention is given to addressing specific subject areas as required. We also prioritise ensuring that examination access arrangements for pupils with learning difficulties or disabilities are accurate and in compliance with the standards set by the Joint Council for Qualifications.
